Minecraft 1.8 Information!

Some quick 1.8 info and updates, below you will find a video from PAX. Notch gives a run down of just some of the new features in the 1.8 adventure update.

  • 1.8 will be split into at least two updates.
  • Creative mode! With unlimited items!
  • You can now sprint/run
  • Critical hits!
  • Deeper oceans
  • Cooked chicken
  • New blocks
  • New mobs (Enderman for 1.8 SilverFish 1.9?)
  • Lakes, rivers and waterfalls
  • New fight mechanics
  • NPC Villages
  • NPC Mines!
  • Improved bow mechanics
  • New glass block
  • Many more!

Right now we are hearing a bunch of rumors that we may see 1.8 sometime this week. As of right now no one from Mojang has officially said anything! What are you most looking forward to with the Adventrue Update?

1.8 World changes

Slowly but surely new information about the 1.8 update starts to leak in. The worlds themselves will be totally revamped. No more random water and land chunks but the new maps seem to be more like islands or continents. There will be rivers and deep oceans. Personally i think rivers will make traveling and coordinating your travels much simpler. All i can think of now though is… we need bigger boats…

Another Endermen picture, or are they Endermen?

Mojang realeased another picture of the Endermen earlier this week. Or did they? apparently there is talk of changing their name to Farlanders. Either way they still look pretty damn creepy! From what I can see in the picture it looks like rumors of wearing a pumpkin on your head to prevent them from seeing you is true but nothing has been confirmed by the mojang team.
Additionally I noticed that if you look really close the Endermen/Farlanders have some sort of texture to them. I have been imagining them being completely black with just those wide white eyes on display. Let us know what your thoughts are about the new mob and the proposed name change in the comments.

New mob coming in Mincraft 1.8

New 1.8 mob
Notch revealed this teaser picture today of a new mob that is coming in the 1.8 update. Apparently they are going to steal and place blocks around your world! I have to admit that these things look pretty damn scary and suggest that you all start building fortresses to keep these sneaky weird looking things out :D Roll on 1.8!
